The Plant a Seed Foundation Board of Directors is composed of six dedicated volunteers. Our Board Members serve three year terms and are appointed each February.

Jason Flory
Jason Flory is a partner of Flory Industries, Inc., a family owned business that specializes in machinery manufacturing. Jason and his wife Jolyn of 17 years are blessed to have 4 children: Jenelle, Megan, Allison and Chad. Currently, Jason is a member of the Gideon’s International, serving on the local cabinet 6 of the 10 years of his involvement. He has been involved in different aspects of the Gideon ministry, including International missions. Believing that family is his first ministry, his passion for the Lord has led him to serve in ministries over the past 18 years. These include Bible Study Fellowship, Modesto Gospel Mission, Trinity Bible College Uganda Africa, Gospel Echoes Prison Ministry, and his local church. Jason strongly believes in a life of service, both to people and projects, whether in his own community or abroad. Other interests include spending time with family, golf and cycling.
Rick Gray
Rick Gray has been a part of the Modesto community his whole life. Rick is a partner with his father, Roger Gray, at Stanislaus Implement & Hardware, their 93 year old farm and equipment company. Rick is also Past President Of the Mchenry Mansion Foundation and currently sits on the Board of Gods Grace Adoption Ministry. Rick married his best friend, Claudine Miller, in June 1997. They have been blessed with a daughter, Abigail, who is 5 and who is the love of their lives. Rick has a passion for helping others in need locally and all over the world. This passion has built as he’s traveled to third world countries and seen the need first hand as well as helping with local projects in his hometown. Rick is thankful for the godly home he was raised in. Rick enjoys spending time with his six nieces and nephews who are a big part of his life. He also enjoys all water sports and especially camping with his wife and daughter. Rick and Claudine are currently members of Brethren Community Fellowship.
Eric Layman
Eric was born in California and raised in Modesto where he resides with his wife Sue, and three daughters, Kayla, Leah, and Sarah. Eric has been employed at Layman Electric Inc. for the past 25 years and is co-owner of the family business. Eric is presently serving on 3 non-profit boards in Modesto: God’s Grace Adoption Ministry (since 1998), Youth for Christ (since 2009) and Plant a Seed Foundation (since 2009). Eric also volunteers his time helping the Royal Family Kids Camp and the Society for Handicapped Winter Skiing, assisting handicapped downhill skiers. For the past 10 years he has coached Girls’ Fastpitch Softball. Eric enjoys almost any outdoor activity, especially when his whole family is involved. The family currently attends Big Valley Grace Community Church.
Gordon Rumble
Gordon and Heidi Rumble have been married for 36 years, live in Modesto, have 3 children (all married), and six grandchildren. Gordon is a full-time Pastor at Big Valley Grace Community Church in Modesto, and works with the congregational grow and care departments. Gordon and Heidi work with God’s Grace Adoption Ministries, Gospel Echos Prison Ministries, and Gordon also serves as an assistant Chaplain at Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera. They both stay active as time permits to help with Retreats, Revivals, Church Camps, and Marriage counseling. Gordon has been to two of Plant a Seed Foundation’s orphanages in Cambodia as well as Uganda. He has stated many times concerning this foundation: “It is a humbling experience, as well as an incredible opportunity to serve the Lord by serving others, here, and around the world!”
Betty Weaver
Betty Weaver grew up in Modesto, the only daughter of Wilbur and Vivian Grant. Her father was a respected home builder and developer, and her mother had a teaching career of more than 30 years in Modesto City Schools. Betty graduated from Downey High School and Modesto Jr. College before earning her BA from San Francisco State with a major in foreign languages. She taught in Bakersfield and Japan before returning home to teach Spanish, French, and English at her alma maters La Loma Junior High and Downey High, where she retired after a teaching career of some 34 years. She very much enjoys traveling the world and entertaining. Her daughter Kristen works in the U.S. State Department, currently in Vienna, Austria. Betty is active in a Bible Study and has been a strong supporter of Youth for Christ and other Christian ministries. Betty has been a member of First Baptist Church (now Cross Point Community Church), beginning in childhood with her brothers Curtis and Allen. Betty loves the Lord and is looking forward to serving Him with her time and talents on the Board of Plant-a-Seed Foundation.
